The Photographer
Ed Duncan is a freelance photographer l
iving in the North West
Highlands of
Scotland. For the past 20 years, Ed has been working in the UK and abroad
capturing precious moments using exclusively traditional photographic
equipment and
slide
film.
Ed uses a combination of 35mm and 120mm cameras from Contax and
Mamiya
with
Fuji Velvia slide film. Any
work scanned is faithfully reproduced to ensure
consistency with original film stock should this ever be the preferred
medium for
distribution or publishing
.
Complimenting his photography, Ed was also one of the founder members of
Edinburgh
University based technology startup "VLSI Vision Ltd" responsible for
inventing and
bringing
to market the world's first CMOS digital cameras in the
early nineties.
Since then, Ed has been working as a technologist in the Imaging Division at
ST Microelectronics Ltd, a global semiconductor company, developing
state-of-the-art image sensor and processing technology primarily being
used in mobile phones, webcams and smart vision systems.
It is important to reinforce that unless requested, Ed prefers not use digital
cameras
for
his photographic work such as that on display in this website.
Ed has now left ST Microelectronics to allow more time to pursue his passion
for
photography and consult with a number of new hi-tech silicon, system
and
software product design start-up companies.
